Dan & Victoria
A winter wedding in Emerald Isle, NC.
About the Wedding
We couldn’t help but fall in love with the effortless elegance of Dan and Victoria’s beachside wedding, where the neutral tones of sand and sea served as the perfect backdrop for their personal style. From the tan suits to their DIY details, every element of the day reflected their unique approach to celebrating their love. We caught up with the couple to get a behind-the-scenes look at how they brought their vision to life and what advice they have for others planning their big day.
For Dan and Victoria, planning their wedding was a true labor of love. Forgoing the traditional route of hiring a wedding planner or videographer, they embraced a DIY approach, crafting each detail by hand. From Victoria’s thrifted wedding dress to arranging the florals herself, they focused on personal, meaningful touches over luxury vendors. Even the entertainment stayed in the family—Victoria’s sister stepped in as DJ, running a custom Spotify playlist from Dan’s phone.
“We didn’t have a wedding planner, we did it ourselves. My wife found her wedding dress at a thrift store and put all of the flowers together herself. We also didn’t have a videographer, and our DJ was her sister with my phone using Spotify,” Dan shared.
Choosing a wedding venue was easy once the couple decided they wanted a location with sentimental value. For Victoria, Emerald Isle, NC, was more than just a picturesque coastal town—it was a place filled with childhood memories of family vacations and sun-soaked summers. Naturally, they gravitated toward this special destination, ultimately selecting the breathtaking Chateau of the Isle, a property that perfectly blended coastal charm with elegance.
No wedding would be complete without including every member of the family—even the four-legged ones. The couple made sure their dog was part of the big day, dressing him up in a stylish tan dog suit from Mutts and Marriage. The pup’s outfit perfectly coordinated with the groomsmen, who wore matching tan suits from SuitShop, adding a playful yet sophisticated touch to the celebration.
While coordinating a wedding party across multiple states can be a challenge, Dan and Victoria found that SuitShop made the process seamless. With groomsmen in three different states, they needed a suiting experience that was convenient and stress-free. SuitShop delivered with an easy online ordering process, smooth exchanges, and thoughtful details, like unhemmed pants, allowing for customized tailoring. When asked about his experience, Dan said:
“The process working with SuitShop was awesome. Especially having groomsmen in three different states, SuitShop made it incredibly easy to order. I really liked the exchange process; it was very smooth. I liked that the pants weren’t hemmed so I could get them tailored exactly how I wanted.”
When asked if they had any advice for engaged couples, Dan offered words of wisdom on keeping perspective during wedding planning. He emphasized focusing on what truly matters: the happiness of you and your partner.
“Do what’s going to make you and your partner happy. Everything else doesn’t really matter as long as the two of you are happy,” Dan advised.
