Ty & Lindsay
A summer wedding in Denver, CO.
About the Wedding
Please, tell us your engagement story!
We love the outdoors and have spent many days hiking Colorado trails. So it was only fitting that Ty would take me on a gorgeous hike in Golden Gate State Park and propose on a rock formation overlooking a lake. I MIGHT have seen it coming when he pulled me off the path just a couple minutes into the hike, saying he wanted to climb some rocks to “look at a lake”… it was perfect and sweet and so us.
What made you choose your venue and theme?
A friend actually told us about Blackstone Rivers Ranch! It was only the second venue we saw, but we immediately knew it was for us. The property is GORGEOUS and has both a mountain vibe and a classic, comfortable feeling. That set the tone for our theme: a combination of classic and natural elements. The groom’s side was dressed head to toe in black and wore clean, classic, suits. The bride’s side wore white except for me (much to my mom’s confusion). They worked so well against my dress, which was a dark blush tone with white applique wildflowers. Our wildflower bouquets and boutonnieres completed the look by providing a mountain feel with our classic black & white attire.
We'd love to know more about your experience in working with SuitShop!
Megan with SuitShop reached out to our company (Runaway Bridal) to talk about partnership opportunities. My business partner Jessica and I visited the shop and LOVED their take on suit shopping. We were so impressed with the aesthetic and the selection of suits they had, and really loved that you get to actually buy the suit for a great price! Who wouldn’t want to pay the same or less than a rental shop for a beautiful suit that they can tailor to fit them perfectly and then keep? I happened to be looking for a suit for Ty for our own wedding at that time. Needless to say, the second I got home I told him about SuitShop! We both loved that he found gorgeous suits for his groomsmen, his groomswoman (who completely rocked her suit!), and our fathers.
Tell us about your business, how did you come up with the idea and what makes you unique?
Jessica and I started Runaway Bridal based on our own experiences. We both felt pressured and a little awkward in the traditional wedding dress shopping setting, and wanted a different option for brides who felt the same way. We came up with the idea after Jessica ordered some wedding dresses online to try on at home. We made it a party just for her! But, it was difficult to tell the quality of dresses online and she spent a ton on shipping. She felt like she settled on her dress.
So we decided to create a new option where we brought a large selection of designer wedding gowns right to the brides home, and provided professional consulting while making it a personalized experience just for them. It has been incredible to bring this concept to others. We love hearing how much brides appreciate being able to try on dresses in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by as many friends and loved ones as they want, without sacrificing quality or professionalism.
Any advice for brides/grooms to be?
The cliché advice really is true: don’t let anyone else tell you what your wedding should be! If you want your bridesmaids to wear white, do it. If you want groomsmen and groomswomen or bridesmaids and bridesmen, definitely do it. If you want your dog in the wedding, DO IT (and invite us please!). This is you and your partners day, and you should do what makes you happy and will make you enjoy every minute.
