asking groomsmen gifts

Did you read this title and immediately think, “wait, I have to get them a gift when I ask them to be my groomsman?” Never fear. The gift you get your guys to ask them to be in your wedding party should be something small but meaningful. You’ll get them something more substantial at the time of the wedding as a thank you. (Get ideas for those here). This first gift is just to show your friend how much they mean to you and should get them excited for the festivities to come! You can absolutely send them a text or hop on a phone call to do the actual “proposing,” especially if you don’t live near one another. But handing over or sending a gift through the mail after the fact is a nice surprise and your generosity won’t go unnoticed.

You can’t go wrong with a pre-designed gift set. But, we’ve broken down some unique options that cater to the types of members you may have in your party:

Outdoorsy Bunch

Keep your friends’ interests in mind when choosing their gifts. For your friends that like to spend their free time hiking, kayaking, and adventuring with their best fur mate, consider:

  • Personalized Multi-Tool: A high-quality multi-tool with their name or initials engraved is a practical and thoughtful gift for outdoorsmen. It will come in handy during camping trips and outdoor adventures.
  • Outdoor Adventure Gear: Consider gifting camping gear like a compact tent, sleeping bag, or portable camp stove to fuel their love for the great outdoors.
  • Engraved Yeti Tumbler: An engraved Yeti tumbler is perfect for keeping drinks hot or cold during outdoor activities. It's a durable and stylish addition to their outdoor gear collection.
  • National Park Pass: If they enjoy exploring national parks, consider gifting an annual pass that allows them access to various national parks across the country.
  • Adventure Book: A personalized adventure book where they can document their outdoor experiences and memories will be a cherished keepsake.

All of these items can be personalized or customized with a note or monogram for an extra special touch.

Cosmopolitan Crew

  • Personalized Leather Card Holder: A sophisticated leather card holder with their initials engraved is both stylish and practical, making it a great choice for your proposal.
  • Premium Liquor or Wine: Consider gifting a bottle of their favorite high-quality liquor or wine, or something unique that they can add to their collection.
  • Classic Watch: A timeless and elegant watch is a classic gift choice for cosmopolitan men. Look for a style that suits their taste and personality.
  • Cufflinks: Classic and timeless, cufflinks are an elegant gift choice. Opt for cufflinks that match the style and interests of each groomsman to keep them unique, or purchase the same for each guy to complete your wedding asthetic. Just be sure you've selected a french cuff dress shirt as part of your wedding group look.
  • Monogrammed Dress Shirts: Speaking of shirts, for a touch of elegance, consider monogrammed dress shirts or dress socks with each groomsman's initials. They'll appreciate the attention to detail and the stylish addition to their wardrobe.
  • Artisanal Coffee Set: If they enjoy coffee, a set of artisanal coffee beans, a French press, and a stylish coffee mug will be appreciated.
  • Designer Grooming Products: Spoil them with a premium grooming set from a luxury brand, or put together your own grooming kits with high-quality grooming essentials, such as a shaving set, beard oil, cologne, and skincare products. This gift ensures your groomsmen are well-groomed and looking sharp on your big day.
  • Garment Duffle Travel Bag: A high-quality bag is a luxurious and practical gift for your groomsmen. They'll use it for weekend getaways or other travels, always remembering your special day–plus, it will help keep their wedding-day look wrinkle-free!
College Buddies

  • Personalized Photo Album: Create a custom photo album filled with pictures of your memories together from hometown or college days.
  • Custom Puzzle or Board Game: For a fun and nostalgic gift, create a custom puzzle or board game featuring inside jokes and memories from your time together.
  • Personalized Beer or Wine Labels: Create custom beer or wine labels featuring the name of each person. If you enjoy homebrewing, consider brewing a special batch for each of them.
Sports Fanatics

Does your group text chain blow up with notifications every game day, no matter the sport? Then one of the following options is for you:

  • Tickets to a Game: Gift them tickets to a live game of their favorite sports team. Whether it's basketball, football, soccer, or any other sport they're passionate about, attending a live game will be an unforgettable experience.
  • Sports Memorabilia: Consider gifting authentic sports memorabilia, such as signed jerseys, balls, or equipment, from their favorite athlete or team. This special gift will become a prized possession for any sports fanatic.
  • Customized Sports Jersey: Get them a customized sports jersey with their name or favorite player's name and number. It's a personalized gift that they can proudly wear to show their team spirit.
  • Customized Water Bottle or Sports Bag: Get them a personalized water bottle or sports bag with their name and favorite team's logo. They can use these items during workouts or at the game.
  • Team Apparel and Merchandise: Surprise them with the latest team apparel, such as hats, jerseys, or jackets, so they can proudly represent their favorite team wherever they go.

When choosing your gifts keep in mind to avoid controversy, keep the inappropriate inside jokes in your texts, and know your audience. For example, you shouldn’t gift your sober friend a whiskey decanter. And, don’t stress about it. You know your group well, they are your best friends and close family members after all. And, when it’s time to get everyone suited up, let us take that off your plate for you through our wedding group coordinator. Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
