Question:
Hi SuitShop Team! I have a question for you. I am getting married next month in Washington D.C. and it is likely going to be so hot! I am not much of a suit guy (though I love the SuitShop Brilliant Blue Suit that I will be wearing) and I am just wondering when I can take off the jacket during the wedding day.
Answer:
Hello! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! We completely understand that in the summer heat you will be anxious to throw off the jacket. But, it is key not to get rid of it too early in the event as there are special moments during the day when you will want to still be wearing the jacket and photographed in your full look. Our recommendation, is too keep the jacket until after the first dance, mother-son dance and toasts are done. If it is too hot and uncomfortable to eat in the jacket, remove it after the formal dances are done. When the party really gets going, no one will really expect you to still be wearing your jacket and you could always throw it back on for the cake cutting, if you like. As an alternative you could also consider wearing the 3-piece version to the suit so that even when your jacket is off you will still have a polished look with the vest, dress shirt and trousers. Good luck! Wishing you a happy wedding day!
